Storytime Guide
Discover tips, questions, and ideas to make reading with your child even more fun and meaningful. Learn how stories can spark imagination, teach important values, and help children connect with themselves and the world around them.

As a child, we loved imagining stories. Not just any stories, but ones that carried lessons about hope, courage, and believing in yourself.
In the past, these stories were shared within communities, by parents, grandparents, and neighbors. Today, life is more digital, and those close community moments are harder to find.
This platform is our way of bringing that sense of connection back. Through a handpicked collection of African children’s books, mostly in English for now and more languages soon, we hope to share stories that inspire imagination, kindness, and resilience.
Reading together is one of the most special moments you can share with your child. With just a few simple questions, storytime can become even more meaningful, helping children think, imagine, and connect the story to their own lives.
Before or During Reading
- “What do you think will happen next?”
- “What do you see in the picture?”
After Reading
- “Who was your favorite character and why?”
- “Have you ever felt like that character?”
- “What part did you like the best?”
Little Storytime Questions for Kids (3–6 years)
After reading a story, you can ask:
- “Who do you like best in the story?”
- “What would you do if you were them?”
- “What part made you happy or sad?”
- “Can you show me with your hands how the character felt?”
These small questions help children think, imagine, and talk about feelings, just like stories used to bring communities together.
Storytime isn’t just about finishing the book, it’s about conversation, connection, and fun. Even small moments of talk help children understand language, build confidence, and enjoy reading together.
